The Dragon Loses a Tooth

There was once a young dragon who lived in a faraway forest land. His house was built in a hollowed-out tree, which made it quite hard to find. He loved living in nature, and nature loved having him there.
And so did all his forest friends. The Dragon was kind, gentle, and brave, and he was usually very calm and relaxed until one day when he discovered that his tooth was loose. It wiggled and wobbled, and this worried him greatly. The tooth gradually became wigglier and wobblier, and soon thereafter, it fell out. This worried the dragon a whole lot more. He didn’t know what to do. He wanted so much for the tooth to be back in his mouth, so he decided to go on a quest to find out how to put it back. He hid his tooth safely under his bed and left.

After a whole day of searching for an answer, the dragon came home with no idea how he was going to put his tooth back in. He was too tired to think about it any further, so he went to sleep without eating any supper.
When he woke up the next morning, the first thing he did was look under the bed for the tooth. But, oh no, the tooth was gone! He jumped out of bed and ran around the house, looking for his tooth. He looked in and behind the cupboards, behind the fridge, and under the couch, but the tooth was nowhere to be found. The longer he looked, the more frustrated he became. What happened to the tooth?
The Dragon felt overwhelmed and wanted to find some calmness, so he went to the window and took a deep breath. Then he noticed his friend, the Butterfly, fluttering about the flowers outside.
“Hello there, Dragon!” said the Butterfly. “How are you doing this morning?”

“Oh, not so good, I’m afraid,” he replied. “You see, my tooth fell out yesterday, and I put it under my bed to keep it safe, but when I woke up this morning, the tooth was gone!”
“Oh dear,” said the Butterfly. “Hm. Under the bed, you say?”
“Yes, why? I wanted to find a way to put it back in my mouth,” added the Dragon. “
The Butterfly thought for a moment and then said, “You know, I heard that when people put their fallen-out teeth under the bed, then the Tooth Fairy comes to fetch them.”
This news angered the Dragon. “What do you mean? Who is this tooth fairy?”
“Uhh, she’s the fairy that fetches the fallen-out teeth, I suppose,” replied the Butterfly.
“Where can I find this tooth fairy?” asked the dragon with a growl.
The butterfly fluttered over to the window and sat down on a flower. “Well, she lives by the fairy castles way over by the end of the rainbows,” it said.
“Hm,” mumbled the Dragon. “Do you know how to get there?”
“Yes, I do! I’ve been there before. That is how I got the colours on my wings. I had to fly there and flap my wings through the rainbows, then all the colours swirled around me and made these lovely patterns on my wings,” the Butterfly explained, showing its wings.
The Dragon was quite too angry to acknowledge the beauty of the butterfly’s wings, but the Butterfly was wise enough to understand that the Dragon was very upset and occupied with finding his tooth.
The Dragon looked quickly at the Butterfly’s wings and then said, “Do you think you could take me there? I would really like to get my tooth back.”
“Yes, of course!” exclaimed the Butterfly. “Let’s make it an adventure!”
“Yes, an adventure,” replied the Dragon. “I’ll get my things.”
